Terms & Conditions

Ordering

Making a purchase could not be easier.  Picture our website as an unmanned supermarket - have a good look and a good think, without interruption. If something takes your fancy just click and it will be added to your Shopping Basket.  No money changes hands and you can carry on browsing all day.  After you've made your selection, click on Checkout and you will be asked for the details that we need to be able to satisfy your order.

We are happy to accept PayPal, Visa and MasterCard credit and debit payments.  If you are ordering from outside the UK, your payment provider will convert the "pounds sterling" transaction into your own currency.  It's quite seamless although they do take a small "tip" for their troubles... Once your order has been accepted, an email is sent automatically, confirming the details you have given.

Whilst this is the quickest way to transact, you may also share your payment card information with us via phone or post.

Liability

If you're working with machine tools, you know the risks and we will not elaborate.  However, to avoid doubt we must state:

We the suppliers, Hemingway Kits, will not accept responsibility for personal injury or damage to property arising directly or indirectly out of the use by customers of our kits and workshop accessories nor will we accept liability for any claims made for personal injury or damage to property resulting from customers carrying out any instructions supplied by us (such instructions being for information purposes only).

The placing of an order shall be deemed as acceptance of the above terms of business.

Your Satisfaction
It is very important to us that you are satisfied with your order. So, if you are not, please contact us straight away - almost all problems can be solved quickly in this way.  If you change your mind about your purchase, please return the unused items to us within 14 days for a full refund - shipping costs for returns however are at your expense. This policy does not affect your usual consumer rights.

The occasional faulty casting is inevitable from the low volume processes that we employ.  Therefore any such casting returned will be replaced free of charge, together with a credit note for the shipping cost which you have incurred.  We cannot, however, accept claims for labour or other costs arising from such faults.

There's also an infinitesimally small chance that YOU will scrap an item?!   Please get in touch and you'll find we show as much mercy as possible in pricing a replacement part for you.

All products are described and shown as accurately as possible.  However, customers are given the full benefit, at once, of any improvements to designs and specifications.

Our Satisfaction
We love what we do and are always pleased to hear about your successful projects. Photograph are always welcome together with any comments you can offer about your improvements, alternative set-ups and product configurations for specific machine tools or jobs.

Death and Taxes...

Hemingway Kits is registered for UK Value Added Tax (= VAT, = 20%) and the prices shown include this tax. We collect VAT on all orders shipped to UK resident customers.  Our EORI registration number is GB876605391000.

Customers living outside of the UK (including now our dear friends in the EU) are miraculously exempt from this tax and it is excorsised from your order as you progress through the checkout.   The exemption however is not applied to shipping costs or orders for plans or books which are already "zero rated".  Do note however that your government may levy import taxes and administration costs, often collected before delivery.  We're sympathetic of course, but powerless - this is your democratic burden.  Overall, you will typically find that the savings in UK VAT offset much of the export shipping cost.

Incidentally, to remove 20% from a tax-inclusive price, you need to divide it by 1.2, not multiply it by 0.8.
