High Capacity Fixed Steady

Developed by Ivan Law of MES, this High Capacity Fixed Steady will accept material from Ø1/4" [Ø6.5mm] right the way up to Ø5" [Ø127mm].

Each of the 4 brass-tipped fingers can be finely adjusted for a quick and accurate set-up. The locking mechanisms can be tightened without affecting the settings and are especially secure. Having 4 fingers, rather than the traditional 3, allows set-ups to be made in the same way as those for the 4-jaw chuck - reducing the "mental gynastics".

Castings are supplied in aluminium and the project itself is perfectly straightforward. The kit includes all necessary materials along with dual-dimensioned drawings and construction notes. 3 versions are available to suit a range of lathes.
