Hemingway Kits > Hemingway Toolroom > Machine Tools and Drives > Slow Speed Drive For Vertical Miller
Ref: HK 145X
Many imported vertical millers have a bottom speed of around 160 rpm - too high for the model engineer's needs. Using their knowledge of Poly V Belt drives, G F Dean and Partner, consulting engineers, have designed modifications for both the standard imported Mill/Drill and the VMC type (as Myford) that reduce the output speed to around 50rpm in low gear without sacrificing high speed performance. Indeed by the clever use of available space, both conversions provide an additional number of speed ratios. The designs also include an optional provision for a spindle mounted flywheel to reduce torsional vibration induced by the dynamics of the cutting action. Some Poly V pulleys are made by re-machining your existing V Belt pulleys whilst other must be machined from iron or aluminium bar stock. Our kits below include simply the drawings, instructions and the Poly V belts required. Click here to see the 2 types of Millers
